The process of replacing Bath’s Destructor Bridge, which links Bath Riverside to the Upper Bristol Road, has commenced.
The new bridge will replace the existing single lane bridge and will accommodate two-way traffic as well as offering new wider footways and a cycle lane. The bridge has been designed by award winning consultants Flint and Neill, along with Knight Architects, and takes the form of an elegant steel arch.
Crest Nicholson Regeneration received planning consent in July 2013 for the new bridge which forms part of its Bath Riverside development. In partnership with B&NES, Crest Nicholson has appointed Britannia Construction to carry out the works.
